The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 23228X2 is a brass SAE pattern hex bushing designed to reduce a 1/2-inch male NPTF thread down to a 1/8-inch female NPTF port. Built to extra-heavy (XH) schedule rating, it handles working pressures up to 1200 psi and operates across a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F. The 0.87-inch hex profile accepts standard wrenches for a secure, leak-resistant makeup. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this fitting when adapting instrument ports, gauges, or branch connections in compressed air, hydraulic, and fluid piping systems.
This hex bushing is suited for both residential and light commercial piping applications. It is commonly used to adapt gauge taps, pressure sensor ports, or smaller branch lines into existing 1/2-inch NPTF threaded bodies. The 1-inch overall length keeps the fitting compact in tight manifold and valve body installations. The brass construction makes it appropriate for use in fluid and gas distribution systems where corrosion resistance and machinability are priorities.
Compatible for use with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe in NPTF-threaded piping systems. Thread specification is 1/2-14 x 1/8-27 NPTF.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines for threaded pipe connections. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads prior to makeup. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material is subject to cracking under excessive force.
