The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 2202X4 is a brass SAE pattern inverted male connector designed for use in hydraulic and fluid-transfer line assemblies. It transitions a 1/4-inch female inverted flare connection on one end to a 1/8-inch male NPTF thread on the other, providing a leak-resistant mechanical joint rated to 1400 psi. At 0.74 inches in length, the fitting is compact and suited for tight routing layouts. The brass construction offers good corrosion resistance and machinability. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system mechanics install this type of adapter when converting between inverted flare tubing runs and threaded port connections on valves, manifolds, or equipment housings.
This fitting is intended for use with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared to SAE inverted flare specifications. It is applicable in both light industrial and residential service contexts, including brake lines, fuel systems, refrigeration service connections, and low-pressure hydraulic circuits. The NPTF male thread end seals on thread engagement without requiring a separate sealant when mated to a properly tapped NPTF port, though thread sealant is commonly applied in field installations.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared to SAE inverted flare specifications. Suitable for systems requiring a 1/4-inch female inverted flare to 1/8-inch male NPTF adapter connection.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or hydraulic system mechanic. Depressurize and drain the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Use two wrenches when tightening to avoid twisting the tubing run. Ensure tubing ends are properly flared to SAE inverted flare dimensions before seating the fitting to prevent leaks at the flare interface.
