The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 20701N is a straight male adapter fitting that connects a 5 mm push-to-connect port to a 1/4-inch male global thread port. Machined from nickel-plated brass, it is designed for use in pneumatic tubing systems where a quick, tool-free tube connection is needed on one end and a threaded port connection on the other. The fitting is rated to 290 psi and handles temperatures from -4 to 176 degrees F. With a hex size of 0.546 inches and an overall length of 0.78 inches, it is a compact, single-piece adapter suited for tight installations. Licensed trades and industrial maintenance technicians are the typical installers.
This adapter is used in pneumatic control and fluid distribution systems found in commercial HVAC equipment, compressed air lines, and process control panels. The push-to-connect end accepts 5 mm OD tubing for fast, secure connections without ferrules or solder. The male global thread end installs into a female-ported manifold, valve body, or equipment housing. Its nickel-plated brass construction resists corrosion in both dry and lightly moist air service environments, making it appropriate for indoor pneumatic and instrumentation applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for pneumatic systems using 5 mm OD metric tubing and 1/4-inch global thread ported components.
Depressurize and lock out the pneumatic or compressed air system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Use an appropriately sized wrench on the hex flats to thread the male end into the receiving port - do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque. Ensure the 5 mm OD tubing is cut cleanly and squarely before inserting it into the push-to-connect end to achieve a proper seal. Verify the system pressure does not exceed the 290 psi rated limit of this fitting before returning to service.
