The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 20527P is a polypropylene push-on hose stem adapter designed to connect 5/16 inch push-on hose stems to 1/4 inch male iron pipe (MIP) threaded fittings. Rated for up to 170 psi, this compact fitting delivers a secure mechanical connection in low-pressure fluid systems. Constructed from polypropylene, it resists corrosion and chemical degradation common in water and light fluid service lines. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and irrigation installers use this adapter where a barbed or push-on hose connection must transition to a standard NPT male thread. Its lightweight construction and simple installation make it a practical choice for both new construction and service replacement work.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate lines, irrigation systems, and similar low-pressure fluid transfer applications. The push-on hose stem end accepts standard 5/16 inch inside-diameter flexible tubing, while the 1/4 inch MIP thread mates to female NPT ports on valves, manifolds, or equipment fittings. It is commonly installed in tight spaces where metal fittings would add unnecessary weight or introduce corrosion risk.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for plastic push-in and hose stem adapter applications in residential and light commercial fluid systems.
Installation is performed by plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off fluid supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any fitting. Thread the MIP end into the female NPT port by hand first, then tighten with an appropriate wrench, using PTFE thread tape on the male threads to ensure a leak-free seal. Do not overtighten polypropylene fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
