The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 201A-4D is a rigid male adapter fitting machined from brass for use in fluid and air transfer applications. It connects a 1/4-inch hose barb on one end to a 1/2-inch male NPTF thread on the other, providing a secure, leak-resistant transition between flexible hose and threaded pipe. The fitting measures 1.72 inches in length with a 0.87-inch hex for wrench engagement. It is rated to 150 psi maximum operating pressure and handles temperatures from -40 to 160 degrees F. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fluid-system installers work with this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial service.
This adapter is suited for use in plumbing, pneumatic, and HVAC hose assemblies where a flexible hose must terminate at a male NPTF-threaded port. The hose barb end accepts hose clamps, similar clamp styles, or a crimped ferrule for retention. It is appropriate for low-to-medium pressure service lines carrying water, air, or compatible fluids within the rated temperature and pressure range. The compact brass construction makes it a practical choice in tight installations where corrosion resistance and reliable thread engagement are both required.
Designed for use with flexible hose assemblies secured by a hose clamp, similar type clamp, or a crimped ferrule, terminating at a 1/2-inch male NPTF-threaded port.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified technician in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the NPTF threads and tighten with a wrench to the hex flats - do not grip the barb body. Inspect the hose-to-barb connection after pressurizing to confirm no leakage at the clamp or ferrule.
