The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 20081A is a brass swivel elbow fitting designed for push-to-connect and threaded plumbing connections. It joins a 1/4-inch push-to-connect port to a 1/8-inch male NPTF thread, allowing a tube to be inserted and sealed without tools on one end while threading into a female port on the other. The swivel design lets the fitting rotate after installation, making it easier to align tubing in tight spaces. The fitting operates across a temperature range of -10 to 200 degrees F and features a 0.37-inch hex for wrench engagement on the threaded end. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pneumatic system installers use this fitting in control, instrumentation, and fluid-handling lines.
This swivel elbow is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a direction change is needed between a push-to-connect tube run and a female NPTF-threaded port. Common installation scenarios include instrument air lines, pneumatic controls, water supply connections, and HVAC equipment plumbing where tubing alignment flexibility is required. The NPTF thread form provides a pressure-tight seal without relying on a sealant tape alone, though applying thread sealant per job specifications is standard practice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for push-to-connect tube systems using 1/4-inch OD tubing connecting to 1/8-inch female NPTF-threaded ports in plumbing, HVAC, and pneumatic control applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing any existing fitting or inserting tubing. Thread the male NPTF end into the female port using a wrench on the hex flat and apply an appropriate thread sealant compound per the system fluid requirements. Insert the tube straight into the push-to-connect port until it seats fully, and confirm retention by pulling back on the tube before re-pressurizing.
