The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 20022A is a reducing union connector designed for push-to-connect tubing systems. It joins two different tube sizes without tools, stepping down from a 3/8-inch connection on one end to a 1/4-inch connection on the other. Both ends use a push-to-connect mechanism that grips and seals tubing on insertion. The fitting is constructed from brass, which provides corrosion resistance and durability in fluid and gas service. It is rated for temperatures from -10 degrees F to 200 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of plumbing, HVAC, and instrumentation applications. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors typically install this type of fitting.
This reducing connector is used wherever a tubing run changes from 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch outside diameter. Common applications include residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration lines, pneumatic controls, and instrument tubing. The push-to-connect design speeds up installation in tight spaces where soldering or compression fittings would be impractical. It is well-suited for water supply, air, and compatible fluid systems within its rated temperature range.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for push-to-connect tubing systems using 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch outside-diameter tubing in plumbing, HVAC, and pneumatic applications.
Installation requires no special tools - cut tubing squarely, deburr the end, and push firmly into the fitting until the tubing seats against the internal stop. Shut off and depressurize the system before making or breaking any connections. To release tubing, depress the collet ring while pulling the tube free. Follow applicable codes such as IPC or local plumbing authority requirements for the intended fluid or gas service.
