The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18285 is a brass male run tee designed for compression-to-threaded transitions in plumbing and fluid distribution systems. The fitting connects two 3/4-inch compression lines on the run while providing a 3/4-inch male NPTF branch outlet, allowing a threaded connection to be introduced mid-line without cutting into the main pipe run. Constructed from brass, it offers reliable corrosion resistance and durability in potable water, light fuel, and general-purpose fluid service. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial applications where a branch takeoff with a threaded male connection is required alongside continuous compression-line flow.
This fitting suits residential and light commercial plumbing installations where copper or compatible tubing is joined using compression fittings. The male NPTF branch port allows direct connection to threaded valves, gauges, or equipment inlets. Typical install scenarios include water supply branch lines, boiler systems, and hydronic distribution manifolds where a mid-run threaded branch is needed. It is particularly suited for retrofit or repair work where soldering is not practical and a mechanical compression connection is preferred.
Designed as an OEM-style brass compression fitting for use with 3/4-inch OD tubing on compression ends and standard 3/4-inch NPTF threaded ports on the branch connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before disassembly or fitting installation. Ensure tubing ends are cut square and deburred before seating into compression nuts to prevent leaks. Apply appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPTF branch thread before making up the threaded connection.
