The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18254B is a 90-degree barstock elbow fitting designed to transition between a 1/4-inch compression connection and a 1/4-inch female NPTF threaded port. Machined from brass, this fitting is rated to 300 psi and handles temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of fluid and gas transfer applications in HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems. The body measures 0.68 inches in diameter with a center-to-end dimension of 0.72 by 0.85 inches. Thread sizes are 7/16-24 on the compression side and 1/4-18 on the NPTF side.
This elbow is commonly used in residential and light commercial systems where a direction change is needed in a compression tubing run connecting to a female NPT port. It is compatible with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing, making it a practical choice for HVAC refrigerant lines, control tubing, and instrument piping where a 90-degree turn and thread conversion are required in a compact footprint.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing. The compression side accepts 1/4-inch tubing; the NPTF side connects to 1/4-18 female NPT ports in compatible instrumentation, control, or fluid system assemblies.
This fitting is typically installed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, or instrumentation technicians. Always depressurize and drain the system before removing or installing compression fittings. Tighten the compression nut by hand first, then apply the appropriate number of wrench turns per the fitting manufacturer's guidance - do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged. Verify NPTF thread engagement is leak-free before returning the system to service.
