The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18235BLF is a 90-degree barstock elbow fitting designed to transition between a 3/8-inch compression connection and a 1/2-inch male iron pipe (MIP) thread. Machined from lead-free brass, it meets lead-free compliance requirements for potable water applications. The fitting features a 9/16-24 thread on the compression side and a 1/2-14 NPT thread on the MIP side. It is rated for temperatures from -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of elbow when routing copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing to a threaded male port at a 90-degree change of direction.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a direction change is needed between a compression tubing run and a threaded pipe connection. Typical applications include supply line connections to faucets, valves, and appliances. Compatible with copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing on the compression side. The lead-free brass construction makes it appropriate for use in potable water systems where lead-free material standards are required by local codes.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing on the compression side. Suitable as a lead-free replacement elbow in potable water plumbing systems requiring a 3/8-inch compression to 1/2-inch MIP transition.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the tubing, then apply an additional one-quarter to one-half turn with a wrench - do not overtighten, as this can deform the ferrule or crack the fitting body. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the MIP threads before engaging the threaded connection.
