The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18194L is a light pattern brass adapter fitting that transitions a 1/2-inch compression connection to a 3/8-inch male NPTF thread. It is designed for use in plumbing, refrigeration, and fluid-handling systems where copper, aluminum, or thermoplastic tubing must connect to a threaded port. The fitting is rated to 200 psi and handles temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for both low-temperature and moderate-heat service environments. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting during rough-in, repair, or retrofit work on compressed-fluid and water supply lines.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications where a compression-style tubing connection must mate to a male NPTF threaded fitting or valve port. The 11/16-20 compression thread mates with the tubing side, while the 3/8-18 NPTF thread seals on the equipment or valve side. Compatible tubing materials include copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic. The compact 0.68-inch hex profile allows installation in confined spaces with standard open-end or adjustable wrenches.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing on systems requiring a 1/2-inch compression to 3/8-inch male NPTF connection. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting in plumbing and fluid-handling assemblies that fall within the rated pressure and temperature limits.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical technician. Shut off the water or fluid supply and relieve system pressure before disassembling any existing fittings. Use a properly sized compression sleeve and nut for the tubing material being connected, and tighten the hex with an appropriately sized wrench - do not overtighten, as brass fittings can crack under excessive torque. Ensure threads are clean and free of burrs before seating the NPTF connection; thread sealant tape or compound is typically applied to tapered male threads per local plumbing code requirements.
