The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18189L is a light pattern brass adapter fitting designed to transition between a 3/8-inch compression connection and a 3/8-inch male NPTF threaded connection. Built from brass, this fitting handles operating pressures up to 200 psi and a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F, making it well-suited for a wide range of fluid and gas line applications. The 9/16-24 x 3/8-18 thread specification and 0.68-inch hex sizing allow for standard wrench installation. With a center-to-end measurement of 1.09 inches, it fits neatly in tight plumbing and mechanical assemblies. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors are the typical installers of this fitting.
This adapter is intended for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing systems. It is commonly installed in residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration lines, fuel systems, and instrumentation runs where a compression tube end must connect to a male NPTF port. The light pattern designation indicates a compact, lower-bulk construction appropriate for installations where space is limited and moderate pressure ratings are sufficient.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing systems requiring a compression to male NPTF adapter connection at 3/8-inch sizing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical technician in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off the fluid or gas supply and relieve system pressure completely before making or breaking any fitting connections. Use an appropriately sized open-end or adjustable wrench on the hex flats - do not overtighten, as brass fittings are susceptible to thread damage. Verify that the compression ferrule is properly seated on the tubing before tightening the compression nut.
