The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18155 is a brass female adapter fitting designed to transition from a 3/8 inch compression connection to a 1/2 inch female NPT (FNPTF) threaded connection. It is used in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration piping systems where a compression tube end must connect to a female pipe thread port. The fitting is machined from brass and rated for 200 psi working pressure across a service temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F. Thread sizing is 9/16-24 on the compression side and 1/2-14 on the NPT side. The 1 inch hex body allows for standard wrench engagement during installation. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters handle this type of fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications.
The 18155 is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems. It is compatible with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing on the compression side. Typical applications include connecting supply lines, instrumentation tubing, and refrigerant or gas-service piping runs to female-threaded ports on valves, manifolds, or equipment. The compact profile, with a center-to-end measurement of 1.12 inches, fits in tight mechanical spaces where larger fittings would not clear.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing on the compression side, connecting to any standard 1/2 inch female NPT threaded port.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the service type. Shut off the water or gas supply and relieve system pressure before making or breaking any connections. Use a backup wrench on the FNPTF side to avoid stressing connected components when tightening the compression nut. Do not overtighten the compression fitting sleeve, as brass compression fittings seat with moderate torque and excessive force can deform the ferrule.
