The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18153L is a light pattern brass adapter fitting designed to transition between a 3/8 inch compression connection and a 1/4 inch female NPT (FNPTF) thread. Rated to 200 psi and suitable for service temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, this adapter handles demanding environments without issue. The hex body measures 0.62 inches across flats, providing a clean wrench grip during installation. Thread dimensions are 9/16-24 on the compression side and 1/4-18 NPT on the female thread side. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics use this type of fitting where copper, aluminum, or thermoplastic tubing meets a threaded port on a valve, manifold, or instrument body.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration line sets, pneumatic controls, and instrumentation tubing runs. It is compatible with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing on the compression end. The compact form factor - with a center-to-end dimension of 0.97 inches - makes it practical in tight spaces where a standard or heavy-pattern fitting would not clear adjacent components. Typical applications include connecting small-diameter tubing to threaded ports on gauges, solenoid valves, regulators, or distribution manifolds.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing on the compression end. Suitable as an OEM-style component or replacement adapter in compression fitting systems requiring a 3/8 inch compression to 1/4 inch FNPTF transition.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC or refrigeration technician. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Hand-tighten the compression nut first, then apply a wrench to the hex body - do not over-torque, as brass compression fittings can be damaged by excessive force. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the NPT threads per standard practice and applicable plumbing codes.
