The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18120 is a brass reducing tee fitting designed for compression-style tubing connections. It features three compression ports: two at 5/8 inches and one at 1/4 inch, allowing a main run to branch off to a smaller-diameter line without adapters. The fitting is rated for 150 to 300 psi and handles temperatures from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F. Plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in refrigeration, HVAC, and fluid-handling applications where a branch takeoff at a reduced port size is required. The all-brass construction provides corrosion resistance and long service life in both wet and dry environments.
This reducing tee is suited for use with aluminum, copper, and thermoplastic tubing. It is appropriate for residential and light commercial installations where a compression connection is specified - no soldering, flaring, or special tooling required beyond a tubing cutter and wrenches. Thread sizes are 13/16-18 on the two larger ports and 7/16-24 on the smaller 1/4 inch port, which aligns with standard SAE compression fitting thread specifications common in refrigeration and instrumentation work.

This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians in systems carrying fluids or refrigerants within the rated pressure and temperature range. Before installation, shut off and depressurize the line and verify tubing is cut cleanly and deburred to ensure a proper compression seal. Hand-tighten the compression nuts first, then snug with a wrench - avoid overtightening, which can deform the ferrule and cause leaks. Verify all connections with a pressure test before returning the system to service.
