The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18117 is a forged brass reducing tee designed for compression-style tubing connections in plumbing and fluid distribution systems. It features three compression ports: two at 1/2 inch and one at 3/8 inch, allowing a single run of tubing to branch to a smaller line without soldering or threading. The body size measures 0.59 inches, with center-to-end dimensions of 0.94 by 0.81 inches. Rated to 200 psi and a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F, this fitting handles the demands of residential and light commercial service work. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
The 18117 is suited for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing in water supply, refrigeration lines, and similar fluid systems where a compression-style reducing branch connection is required. Its compact body size makes it appropriate for tight spaces in residential plumbing retrofits, appliance supply lines, and hydronic branch runs where tube diameters need to step down from 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch at the branch port.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing. Suitable as a compression reducing tee in plumbing, HVAC, and fluid distribution applications requiring 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch branch reduction.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before disconnecting or fitting any compression connection. Compression fittings require proper tube preparation - deburr and square-cut tubing ends before seating the ferrule. Do not overtighten compression nuts; snug plus a partial turn is the standard practice for most compression fittings of this type.
