The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 18110 is a forged brass reducing tee designed for compression-style tubing connections in fluid and gas distribution systems. It features three compression ports: two 1/4-inch ports and one 3/8-inch port, allowing a single inline branch point where tubing sizes differ. Rated to 300 psi and suitable for temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, this fitting handles the pressure and thermal range common in HVAC refrigerant lines, fuel gas distribution, and plumbing branch runs. The forged brass construction provides durability and leak-resistant performance in permanent or serviceable installations. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors install this fitting as part of tubing distribution assemblies.
This reducing tee is suited for residential and light commercial applications where copper, aluminum, or thermoplastic tubing requires a branched connection with a size transition. Typical uses include refrigeration line sets, compressed air distribution, fuel gas tubing, and hydronic branch lines. The 1/2-inch body size and compact center-to-end dimensions of 0.69 by 0.75 inches allow installation in tight spaces within equipment cabinets or wall cavities. The 7/16-24 by 9/16-24 thread specification ensures proper mating with standard compression nuts and ferrules for the respective tubing sizes.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing in compression fitting assemblies. Suitable for HVAC, plumbing, fuel gas, and refrigeration tubing distribution systems requiring a reducing branch connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local mechanical and plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before disassembling or installing any compression fitting. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the fitting body, then apply a controlled additional turn with a wrench - avoid overtightening, which can crack the ferrule or distort the fitting seat. Do not use pipe dope or thread sealant on compression threads; the ferrule and seat provide the seal.
