The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 17238N is a 90-degree compression elbow fitting designed to change flow direction in low-pressure plumbing and fluid distribution lines. It connects 1/2-inch compression tubing on one end to a 1/2-inch male NPT threaded port on the other, making it a transition fitting between tube runs and threaded pipe or valve bodies. Constructed from nylon in a white finish, this fitting is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and suited for non-metallic system environments. The compression side uses an 11-16-20 thread specification, while the NPT side is 1/2-14. Plumbers, irrigation techs, and general contractors install this fitting in residential and light commercial applications where a right-angle direction change is needed without soldering or specialty tools.
This elbow is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, irrigation lines, water supply distribution, and low-pressure fluid handling assemblies. It is particularly useful in tight spaces where a straight run is not possible and a 90-degree turn is required to route tubing around obstructions or into panel-mounted components. The plastic compression end accepts standard 1/2-inch OD tubing, and the male NPT end threads directly into female-threaded ports on valves, manifolds, or equipment housings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or installation fitting for plastic compression plumbing systems using 1/2-inch OD tubing and 1/2-inch female NPT threaded connections.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or qualified irrigation and fluid system technicians. Always shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before disassembling any fitting or tubing connection. Hand-tighten the NPT end first, then use a wrench for a snug, leak-free seal; do not overtighten plastic fittings as this can crack the body. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing codes for fitting selection and pressure ratings.
