The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 16700007 is a gapless ear clamp designed for secure, low-profile clamping of low durometer and thin-walled hose or tubing. The gapless ear design eliminates the gap found in standard ear clamps, distributing clamping force evenly around the full circumference of the hose. This prevents hose damage and leaks at the clamp point, which is especially important when working with softer or thinner hose materials. The clamp accepts a nominal size of 7/16 inch, with a minimum clamp diameter of 0.378 inches and a maximum clamp diameter of 0.445 inches. The 5 mm band width provides consistent contact across the hose surface. This type of clamp is installed by HVAC technicians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors during assembly or service of fluid and air conveyance systems.
This clamp is suited for residential and light commercial applications where low durometer or thin-walled hose and tubing is used. Common installation scenarios include condensate drain lines, fuel lines, coolant hoses, and other small-diameter fluid transfer assemblies. The compact dimensions make it appropriate for tight spaces where larger clamps would not fit. It is typically installed using a dedicated ear clamp pincer tool that crimps the ear to lock the clamp at the target diameter.
Suitable for use with low durometer and thin-walled hose and tubing. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation clamp for small-diameter hose assemblies in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems requiring a 7/16 inch nominal clamp.
Installation requires a dedicated ear clamp pincer or crimping tool rated for the clamp band width. Ensure the hose or tubing is fully seated on the fitting before crimping the ear. Once crimped, the clamp cannot be reopened or reused - remove and replace the clamp if the connection must be serviced. Follow applicable codes and manufacturer guidelines for the specific hose and fitting assembly being secured.
