The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 16128 is a brass 90-degree compression elbow fitting designed for small-diameter tubing connections in plumbing, refrigeration, and instrumentation applications. It combines a 1/8-inch threaded sleeve (double compression) connection on one end with a 1/8-27 male iron pipe (MIP) thread on the other, allowing a direct transition from compression tubing to a threaded pipe fitting. The fitting uses a 5/16-24 compression thread at the sleeve end. Rated to 500 psi and suitable for service temperatures ranging from -65 to 250 degrees F, it is an appropriate choice for both gas and liquid service lines where a compact right-angle transition is required.
This elbow is intended for use with aluminum tubing, copper tubing, or plastic tubing when an internal tube support is used. It is a standard double-compression fitting, meaning the sleeve grips the tubing on both the inside and outside for a reliable, vibration-resistant seal. Typical applications include fuel gas lines, pneumatic control tubing, hydraulic instrument lines, and HVAC refrigerant or sensing tube runs where a 90-degree change of direction is needed in a confined space. The compact body is suited to panel-mount or bulkhead installations where clearance is limited.
Designed for use with 1/8-inch OD aluminum tubing, copper tubing, or plastic tubing when an internal tube support is installed. Connects to any 1/8-27 NPT female-threaded port or fitting.
This fitting should be installed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or instrumentation mechanic familiar with compression fittings and NPT threaded connections. De-pressurize and isolate the line before disassembly or installation. When using plastic tubing, always insert the appropriate internal tube support before seating the sleeve to prevent collapse under compression load. Tighten the compression nut with a wrench to the fitting body while holding the body stationary - do not over-tighten, as brass compression fittings can be damaged by excessive torque. Verify all connections are leak-free before returning the system to service.
