The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 12310 is a brass restriction pipe adapter designed to control or limit flow in low-pressure and medium-pressure fluid or gas lines. It connects 1/8-inch female iron pipe (FIP) on one end to 1/8-inch male iron pipe (MIP) on the other, using a 1/8-27 thread form. The fitting is rated to 2800 psi and handles temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F. At 3/4 inch in length with a 1/2-inch hex for wrench engagement, it installs quickly in tight spaces. The 5/8-inch orifice restricts flow to a specified rate, making it suitable for metering applications in HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters are the typical installers.
This adapter fits residential and light commercial applications where flow restriction is required at a 1/8-inch pipe connection point. Common uses include pilot gas lines, refrigerant line accessories, instrument tubing, and low-volume fluid circuits. Its compact form factor allows installation in manifold blocks, control panels, and equipment cabinets where space is limited. The all-brass construction resists corrosion in both wet and dry service environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/8-inch NPT pipe systems requiring flow restriction, including HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration applications using standard 1/8-27 threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or qualified gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IPC, or IFGC requirements. Depressurize and isolate the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is susceptible to thread damage under excessive torque.
