The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 12214 is a dual master cylinder adapter designed to connect brake or hydraulic lines with mismatched inverted flare fittings. One end features a 1/4-inch female inverted flare connection, and the other end features a 7/16-inch male inverted flare connection. The adapter is machined from brass and seals on the hex face for a reliable, leak-resistant joint. Thread sizing is 7/16-24 on the female end and 7/16-20 on the male end. It is rated for temperatures from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for under-hood and hydraulic system environments. Automotive and hydraulic technicians use this fitting when adapting master cylinder ports to existing line hardware.
This adapter is used in hydraulic brake line and clutch line applications where a size transition between inverted flare fittings is required. It is commonly installed at the master cylinder outlet when connecting a 1/4-inch line to a 7/16-inch port, or when retrofitting older brake hardware to updated components. The hex-face sealing design eliminates the need for additional sealing compounds at the mating surface. Suitable for both automotive and light-duty hydraulic applications where inverted flare connections are the standard.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement adapter for hydraulic brake and clutch line systems using inverted flare fittings at the master cylinder outlet.
Installation is typically performed by an automotive or hydraulic technician. Depressurize and bleed the hydraulic system before removing any existing fittings. Hand-tighten the adapter first to confirm thread engagement, then torque to the fitting manufacturer's specification using an appropriately sized wrench on the hex faces. After installation, inspect for leaks and perform a full system bleed before returning the vehicle or equipment to service.
