The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 12061 is a 90-degree brass elbow fitting designed for hydraulic and fluid-transfer lines requiring a direction change at a tight angle. The first connection is a 5/16-inch female inverted flare port with a 1/2-20 thread. The second connection is a 1/8-inch male NPTF (MNPTF) port with a 1/8-27 thread. Rated to 1200 psi and suitable for operating temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, this fitting handles the demands of compressed fluid systems in mobile equipment, HVAC refrigerant lines, and plumbing applications. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system technicians are the primary installers.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial applications where a low-pressure or medium-pressure hydraulic or refrigerant line must transition from a tubing run to a threaded port at a 90-degree angle. The inverted flare end accepts standard flared tubing, and the MNPTF end threads directly into a port or valve body. The tube wall specification of 0.032 inches is relevant when selecting compatible tubing stock. A center-to-end dimension of 0.47 x 0.68 inches makes this fitting appropriate for compact installations where clearance is limited.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing with a 0.032-inch tube wall thickness on the inverted flare end.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or hydraulic system technician familiar with inverted flare and NPT fitting procedures. Depressurize and drain the system completely before removing any existing fittings or making new connections. Hand-tighten the inverted flare nut before applying final torque with a flare-nut wrench to avoid cross-threading or deforming the flare seat. The MNPTF threaded end typically requires thread sealant compatible with the system fluid; verify compatibility before application.
