The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 109AL-12 is a countersunk hex plug used to seal threaded pipe openings in pressurized fluid and gas systems. The countersunk head design allows the plug to sit flush or below the mating surface, which is useful in tight clearance applications. Machined from C36000 brass, this plug offers reliable corrosion resistance and durability in a wide range of service environments. The 3/4 inch male NPTF thread provides a pressure-tight, dryseal connection without the need for additional sealant tape in most applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters most commonly install these plugs during system assembly, maintenance, or when capping unused branch ports.
This countersunk hex plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, and general-purpose pipe systems where a low-profile pipe closure is required. It is commonly used to cap unused outlets on manifolds, valves, and fittings in water, air, and hydraulic lines. The male NPTF thread ensures a pressure-tight dryseal fit in standard NPTF-tapped ports.
Designed as an OEM-style pipe fitting for use in standard 3/4 inch NPTF-tapped ports in residential and commercial plumbing and piping systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any pipe plug. Use a calibrated torque wrench or hex key sized to the drive to avoid overdriving and cracking the port boss. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for thread sealant use with NPTF connections.
