The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 108037 is a reducing companion flange designed to connect two threaded pipe ends of different diameters within a pipeline system. It steps down from a 6-inch threaded connection to a 4-inch threaded connection, with thread sizing following the 6-8 x 4-8 standard per ASME B1.20.1. Constructed from ductile iron with a galvanized finish, the flange delivers corrosion resistance suited to wet or buried service environments. The 1-inch thick flange body and 125 lb pressure class rating support working pressures up to 150 psi. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this component on water main, industrial, or municipal distribution systems.
This reducing companion flange is used in residential, commercial, and municipal piping installations where a transition between 6-inch and 4-inch threaded pipe is required. The galvanized ductile iron construction makes it appropriate for water service, drainage, and general industrial pipeline applications. It is designed to mate with standard 125 lb flat-face flanges and companion hardware conforming to ASME B16.42 and AWWA C110 dimension standards. An 8-bolt hole pattern with 7/8-inch diameter bolt holes and 9-1/2-inch hole center-to-center spacing ensures consistent, leak-free joint assembly when properly torqued to specification.
Designed to mate with 125 lb flat-face companion flanges and fittings conforming to ASME B16.42 and AWWA C110 dimension standards on 6-inch x 4-inch threaded pipe systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with the International Plumbing Code and applicable AWWA standards. Shut off and depressurize the pipeline fully before disassembling any flanged joint. Use appropriate flange gaskets rated for the service pressure and fluid type when making up the joint. Do not overtighten bolt fasteners unevenly - follow a cross-pattern sequence to achieve uniform gasket compression and prevent leaks.
