The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 10464 is a brass SAE 45-degree flare reducer fitting designed to connect a 3/8-inch male flared line to a 1/2-inch female flared line. It steps down tubing connections where two different flare sizes meet in a single inline joint. Rated to 750 psi and suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, this fitting handles the pressure and thermal demands common in refrigeration, HVAC, and hydraulic tubing systems. The 0.94-inch hex profile accepts a standard open-end or adjustable wrench for secure installation without specialized tooling.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and fluid-transfer applications where aluminum, brass, copper, or steel hydraulic tubing must be joined at a size transition. It is appropriate wherever SAE 45-degree flare connections are specified and a reducer is needed to match mismatched line sizes. The 1.44-inch overall length keeps the transition compact within tight equipment chases or panel enclosures. Licensed HVAC technicians and plumbers install this fitting as part of new line sets or during service repairs requiring tubing size changes.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared to SAE 45-degree specifications, with a minimum tube wall thickness of 0.032 inches. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting wherever SAE 45-degree flare reducers are specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or plumber familiar with SAE flare fitting procedures. De-pressurize and isolate the system before disassembling any flare connections. Ensure tubing ends are cleanly cut, deburred, and properly flared to SAE 45-degree standards before tightening. Overtightening a flare fitting can crack the flare seat, so hand-snug first and then wrench-tighten to the fitting manufacturer's recommended procedure for brass flare joints.
