The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 103447 is a reducing coupling designed to connect two female-threaded pipe sections of different diameters in high-pressure piping systems. It steps down from a 1-1/2 inch FPT connection to a 3/4 inch FPT connection, allowing inline size reduction without additional adapters. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, it is rated for 3000 lb pressure class service. The threaded ends conform to 1-1/2-11-1/2 NPT and 3/4-14 NPT thread standards. At 3.31 pounds, it is a solid, heavy-duty fitting appropriate for demanding industrial and commercial piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This reducing coupling is suited for high-pressure piping systems in commercial, industrial, and mechanical applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required. It is commonly used in water, oil, gas, and chemical service lines where an inline reduction from 1-1/2 inch to 3/4 inch female pipe thread is needed. The 304 stainless steel construction makes it a practical choice in environments subject to moisture or mild corrosive media. It falls within the 3000 lb coupling and reducer category for high-pressure fittings above 1000 lb pressure class.
Designed as an OEM-style high-pressure reducing coupling for 3000 lb class piping systems using 1-1/2 inch and 3/4 inch female NPT connections in 304 stainless steel pipe assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and ASME B31 piping system standards. Depressurize and isolate the piping system completely before installing or removing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service media to all threaded connections. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as this can damage the threads or fitting body.
