The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 10289 is a 90-degree male elbow fitting manufactured from forged brass for use in hydraulic and fluid-transfer systems. It connects a 1/4-inch SAE 45-degree male flared end to a 1/2-inch male NPTF threaded end, allowing a direction change at a right angle in a single compact fitting. The 7/16-20 thread on the flare side mates with the 1/2-14 NPTF thread on the pipe side. Rated to 1400 psi and suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 to 250 degrees F, this elbow is built for demanding service conditions. Plumbers, pipefitters, and hydraulic system technicians install this fitting where copper, brass, aluminum, or steel hydraulic tubing must transition to a threaded pipe port at a 90-degree angle.
The 10289 is used in residential and commercial hydraulic lines, refrigeration interconnects, and fluid-power plumbing where a compact directional change is required. The SAE 45-degree flare geometry on one end suits standard hydraulic tubing assemblies, while the NPTF thread on the opposite end provides a pressure-tight connection to pipe or manifold ports without requiring a separate sealant in most applications. This fitting is commonly found in equipment rooms, mechanical skids, and mobile hydraulic installations where space is limited and a reliable 90-degree turn at a threaded port is needed.
Designed for use with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing. Fits applications requiring a 1/4-inch SAE 45-degree male flare to 1/2-inch male NPTF connection. Part of the SAE 45-Degree Flare brass fittings line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or hydraulic technician. Depressurize and isolate the hydraulic or fluid system completely before removing or installing any fitting. NPTF threads are designed to seal on the threads themselves; inspect threads for damage before assembly and follow torque guidelines appropriate to the tubing and port material. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as this can crack the body or distort the flare seat.
