The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 10283B is a 90-degree barstock male elbow fitting machined from brass, designed to transition between a 1/8-inch Male Flared (SAE 45-degree) connection and a 1/8-inch Male NPTF threaded port. With a pressure rating of 2800 psi and an operating temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F, this fitting is built for demanding hydraulic and fluid system applications. The 5/16-24 flare thread mates to 1/8-27 NPTF, delivering a leak-resistant mechanical seal on both ends. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system technicians routinely specify this type of adapter when routing tubing at a 90-degree angle in tight installations.
This fitting is intended for use in hydraulic lines, refrigeration-adjacent fluid circuits, and general plumbing assemblies where a direction change is required at a threaded port. It is compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing. The compact body size of 0.43 inches and center-to-end dimensions of 0.62 by 0.69 inches make it well suited for confined panel or manifold installations where full-size fittings will not clear surrounding components. The 0.03-inch minimum tube wall specification should be verified before installation.
Compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing per input data. Requires a minimum tube wall of 0.03 inches. Thread engagement is 5/16-24 on the flare side and 1/8-27 on the NPTF side.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or qualified hydraulic system technician. Depressurize and isolate the fluid circuit fully before removing or installing any fitting. Do not overtighten brass fittings; hand-snug and then wrench-tighten to the fitting manufacturer's standard practice for brass NPTF threads. Verify tube wall thickness meets the 0.03-inch minimum before flaring the tube end to ensure a proper SAE 45-degree seat.
