The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 10268L is a light-pattern SAE 45-degree flare male adapter machined from brass. It connects a 1/2-inch male flared end to a 3/8-inch male NPTF port, making it a common transition fitting in hydraulic and fluid-transfer lines. The thread specifications are 3/4-16 on the flare side and 3/8-18 on the NPTF side. Overall length is 1.46 inches, with a 3/4-inch hex for wrench engagement. Rated to 750 psi, this adapter is suited for moderate-pressure hydraulic circuits. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and hydraulic system technicians are the primary installers.
This fitting is designed for use in hydraulic tubing assemblies that incorporate copper, brass, aluminum, or steel tubing. It is commonly installed in mobile equipment, stationary hydraulic power units, refrigeration lines, and fluid-control systems where an SAE 45-degree flare connection must transition to a standard NPTF threaded port. The operating temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F allows use across a wide variety of service environments, including cold-climate and moderate-heat applications.
Designed for use with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing systems requiring an SAE 45-degree male flare to male NPTF transition. Compatible tubing and port connections must conform to SAE 45-degree flare and NPTF thread standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter, plumber, or hydraulic technician familiar with SAE flare and NPTF thread standards. Depressurize and isolate the hydraulic or fluid circuit completely before disassembly or installation. NPTF threads are designed as dry-seal connections, but confirm system requirements before applying thread sealant. Do not overtighten; use the hex flats and a properly sized wrench to achieve a snug, leak-free connection without distorting the flare seat.
