The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 10240L is a light pattern brass adapter fitting designed to connect 1/2-inch male flared tubing to a 3/8-inch female NPTF (FNPTF) threaded port. Built to SAE 45-degree flare standards, this adapter is suited for hydraulic and fluid-transfer lines where a reliable metal-to-metal seal is required. The fitting measures 1.38 inches in length with a 0.81-inch hex body for wrench engagement. It is rated to 750 psi and handles temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, making it appropriate for a range of refrigeration, hydraulic, and fluid system applications. Thread dimensions are 3/4-16 male flare by 3/8-18 NPTF female. Licensed plumbers and fluid-system technicians are the typical installers.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial systems where copper, brass, aluminum, or steel hydraulic tubing must interface with NPTF-ported components. Common applications include refrigerant line connections, hydraulic control circuits, and fluid-transfer assemblies. The light pattern design reduces weight and bulk in space-constrained installations. A minimum tube wall thickness of 0.032 inches is specified for compatible tubing. This fitting is catalogued under SAE 45-degree flare female adapters and is sold individually.
Compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing meeting the 0.032-inch minimum tube wall specification. Designed as an SAE 45-degree flare female adapter for use in hydraulic and fluid-transfer systems requiring a 1/2-inch male flared by 3/8-inch FNPTF connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, hydraulic technician, or qualified HVAC technician depending on the system type. Depressurize and isolate the line before removing or installing any fitting. Use a backup wrench on the mating component to avoid twisting tubing during tightening. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the SAE flare seals on metal contact and excess torque can deform the flare seat.
