The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 10116 is a brass reducing union fitting designed to connect tubing lines of two different diameters using SAE 45-degree male flare ends. One end accepts a 1/4 inch SAE 45-degree male flare connection with a 7/16-20 thread; the other accepts a 3/16 inch SAE 45-degree male flare with a 3/8-24 thread. Rated to 1,400 psi and suitable for temperatures from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, this fitting is built for reliable performance in hydraulic and refrigeration line applications. The compact brass construction measures 1.12 inches in length with a 0.44 inch hex. Typically installed by licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and hydraulic system technicians in both residential and light commercial settings.
The 10116 is used in applications requiring a reduction between 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch tubing lines joined with SAE 45-degree flare connections. It is compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing and is well suited for refrigerant lines, fuel lines, and hydraulic circuits where a secure, leak-free reducing connection is needed. The 0.03 inch tube wall specification helps guide proper tubing selection during installation.
Designed for use with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing in SAE 45-degree flare systems requiring a reduction from 1/4 inch to 3/16 inch line size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician, plumber, or hydraulic system technician. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before removing any existing fitting or making new connections. Use an appropriately sized flare tool to ensure properly formed flare seats before tightening; damaged or deformed flares are a common source of leaks. Tighten to the fitting hex using a properly sized wrench - do not over-tighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
