The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 06121-16 is a cored hex head plug designed to close off open pipe ends in pressurized fluid and gas systems. Machined from brass, this plug features a 1-inch male NPTF thread that forms a dry-seal connection without requiring additional sealant tape under most conditions. It is rated to 1000 psi and handles temperatures from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial plumbing applications. The 1.37-inch hex drive allows installation with standard hand or power wrenches. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting type.
This plug is used to terminate 1-inch pipe runs in residential, commercial, and light industrial systems. It is compatible with brass, bronze, copper, steel, aluminum, and iron pipe, which makes it a practical choice for mixed-material plumbing assemblies, hydronic heating lines, compressed air systems, and general-purpose pipe work. The cored design distinguishes it from a solid plug and is commonly specified where future access or system expansion may be required at that port.
Rated for use with brass, bronze, copper, steel, aluminum, and iron pipe systems with 1-inch NPTF female connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut down system pressure and bleed the line before removing or installing any threaded plug. Use a properly sized wrench on the hex drive to avoid rounding. Inspect the female receiving thread for damage before engagement to ensure a proper NPTF dry-seal fit.
