The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 04048-0304O is a brass SAE 45-degree flare half union designed to connect a 3/16-inch male flared tube end to a 1/4-inch male NPTF threaded port. Threaded at 3/8-24 on the flare side and 1/4-18 on the NPTF side, this fitting handles pressures up to 1900 psi and operates across a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system installers use this fitting where a tube-to-pipe transition is needed in tight or inline configurations.
This half union is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving copper, brass, aluminum, or steel hydraulic tubing. Common install scenarios include fuel, refrigerant, and hydraulic line connections where a flare-to-NPT male adapter is required to mate tubing to a threaded port on a valve, manifold, or equipment fitting. Its compact dimensions make it practical in confined spaces.
Compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing. Accepts a 3/16-inch male flared connection on one end and a 1/4-inch male NPTF port on the other, per SAE 45-degree flare standards.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or hydraulic system mechanic. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any fittings. The SAE 45-degree flare end relies on a properly formed flare seat for sealing - inspect the tube flare for defects before assembly. NPTF threads are designed to seal on the threads themselves; follow applicable plumbing and mechanical codes for the system type and fluid being conveyed.
