The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 00682-1006 is a reducing compression union designed to connect two lines of different diameters in a single inline fitting. It accepts a 5/8-inch compression connection on one end and a 3/8-inch compression connection on the other, making it a practical solution wherever a line-size reduction is needed without soldering or threading. The body is machined from brass and finished with chrome plating for corrosion resistance in exposed or semi-exposed installations. The 13/16-18 thread specification is standard for compression union nuts in this size range. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting in water supply, refrigerant-service, or gas-appliance tubing runs.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications where tubing size changes along a straight run. It is compatible with aluminum, copper, or plastic tubing, covering the most common line materials found in supply, drain, and refrigerant service work. Typical install scenarios include under-sink supply connections, ice-maker lines, and appliance gas or water feed lines where two differently sized tubes must be joined inline without adapters or additional fittings.
Designed for use with aluminum, copper, or plastic tubing. Suitable as an OEM-style reducing compression union in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC tubing systems.
Shut off the water or gas supply and relieve line pressure before disassembling any compression fitting. A licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician should perform installation where required by local code. Use two wrenches when tightening compression nuts to avoid rotating the fitting body and stressing adjacent tubing. Do not overtighten compression nuts - snug plus a quarter-turn is the general guideline for compression fittings; follow applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the specific service.
