The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 00269-0608 is a captive sleeve male 90-degree elbow fitting designed for transitioning from a 3/8-inch compression connection to a 1/2-inch male NPTF thread. Constructed from brass, this fitting is suited for plumbing, refrigeration, and gas distribution lines where a reliable 90-degree directional change is needed. The captive sleeve design keeps the compression sleeve retained on the fitting body during handling, simplifying assembly in tight or overhead installations. Rated for a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F, it performs across a broad range of operating conditions encountered in residential and light commercial service work.
This fitting is used in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC refrigerant lines, and compressed gas applications where a compression-to-male-NPTF transition at a 90-degree angle is required. It is typically installed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters working on copper tubing runs that need to connect to a threaded port or valve body. The captive sleeve format is common in OEM equipment connections and field retrofit situations where tube routing requires a right-angle turn at the fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for systems using 3/8-inch compression tubing connections transitioning to 1/2-inch male NPTF threaded ports.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC codes. Shut off the supply line and depressurize the system before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the fitting body, then wrench-tighten per standard compression fitting practice - do not overtighten, as brass threads and ferrules can be damaged. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPTF threads before connecting to the receiving port.
