The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 00085-1008 is a 90-degree reducing elbow fitting designed for compression-style tubing connections. It transitions from a 5/8-inch compression inlet to a 1/2-inch compression outlet, allowing directional changes and size reductions in a single fitting. Constructed from forged brass, it is rated for pressures up to 150 psi and temperatures ranging from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F. The fitting uses a 13/16-18 thread form and is suited for plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical piping applications where a reliable, leak-resistant connection is required. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
This fitting is intended for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing in residential and light commercial systems. Its reducing geometry is useful in supply line transitions, appliance connections, and any application requiring a directional change with a simultaneous reduction in tubing diameter. The forged brass construction offers durability in both wet and dry service environments, making it appropriate for potable water, fuel gas, and pneumatic lines where the pressure and temperature ratings are within range.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing in compression-style fitting applications.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines. Shut off the water or gas supply and depressurize the line before disassembly or installation. Ensure tubing ends are cut square, deburred, and fully seated in the compression nut before tightening. Do not overtighten compression fittings, as this can deform the ferrule and cause leaks.
