The MICRO 100 SPD-500-100 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, centered starting points for follow-on drilling operations. With a 100-degree point angle and a 0.5000-inch cutting diameter, it establishes precise drill entry locations while minimizing walking and runout on the workpiece surface. The spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut promote clean chip evacuation. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1.0-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and tool holders in both manual and CNC machine setups. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production operators working in metal fabrication and general machining applications are the primary installers of this tool.
The SPD-500-100 is suited for general-purpose spotting work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials across light manufacturing, job shop, and production environments. Its bright uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice when coating compatibility with a specific workpiece material is a concern. The 0.5000-inch straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, or Jacobs-style drill chucks. It is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses where accurate hole location is required before full-depth drilling.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style spotting drill within the MICRO 100 SPD series, compatible with standard 0.5000-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and Jacobs-style chucks on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with rotary cutting tool setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool from its holder. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout will degrade spotting accuracy. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines for appropriate spindle speeds and feed rates for the workpiece material being spotted.
