The MICRO 100 QRR-038-12 is a solid carbide face grooving tool designed for cutting retaining ring grooves inside bored holes. Built from solid carbide throughout, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for precise groove geometry in production and job-shop turning applications. The shank diameter is 5/16 inch, the overall length is 2.0 inches, and the tool projects 0.08 inches from the shank centerline. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where internal grooving accuracy is critical.
This grooving tool is suited for face grooving operations on the interior walls of bored holes with a minimum hole diameter of 0.31 inches. It accommodates a maximum hole depth of 0.75 inches and cuts a groove width of 0.322 inches - sized for standard retaining ring seat profiles. Typical applications include shaft retention features, snap-ring groove machining, and internal channel work on housings, bores, and cylindrical components in both prototype and production environments.
Designed for use in standard 5/16 inch bore toolholders and collet-style holders on CNC and manual lathes capable of internal face grooving; suitable for bores at or above 0.31 inches minimum hole diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is properly secured before seating or removing the tool. Confirm shank runout and projection depth prior to first cut. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and tool stick-out limits.
