The MICRO 100 QBT-120500 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for precision internal diameter machining on lathes and boring mills. It handles a minimum bore diameter of 0.120 inches with a maximum bore depth of 0.5 inches, making it well suited for tight, small-bore applications where rigidity and accuracy are critical. The 3/16-inch shank diameter and 1.5-inch overall length keep the tool compact and easy to position in confined setups. A 0.004-inch corner radius controls surface finish and reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in precision shops will find this bar appropriate for both production and prototype work.
This boring bar is intended for right-hand cutting operations in small-bore internal turning applications. It is well matched to CNC lathes and manual engine lathes where small bore diameters and shallow depths are common. Typical use cases include finishing bores in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where dimensional tolerance and surface finish are priorities. The solid carbide construction supports higher cutting speeds and longer tool life compared to high-speed steel alternatives, particularly in harder materials.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide boring bar for use in standard 3/16-inch shank boring bar holders on CNC and manual lathes requiring a minimum bore diameter of 0.120 inches.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank firmly in the tool holder to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping torque to prevent tool pullout during cutting. Inspect the cutting edge and corner radius for chips or wear before each use. Follow all applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting tool offsets and running initial passes.
