The METRIC BLUE UST176308 is a partially threaded socket cap screw designed for high-strength fastening applications in industrial, mechanical, and structural assemblies. Manufactured from alloy steel to material grade 12.9, it delivers exceptional tensile strength suitable for demanding bolted joint applications. The M16 x 2 thread size with a 150 mm length under head accommodates deep through-bolt configurations where partial threading is needed to maintain a smooth shank for shear load bearing. The hex socket drive allows torque application with standard Allen keys or hex bit drivers. The Metric Blue finish provides a corrosion-resistant coating appropriate for in-service environments. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians are the typical installers of this fastener.
This screw is suited for use in machinery assembly, tooling fixtures, and structural steel connections where a high-clamp-load fastener is required. The partial threading allows the unthreaded shank to carry shear loads across joint interfaces, a common requirement in precision machine design and heavy equipment maintenance. It is sold individually and is appropriate for single-piece procurement or replacement of a damaged fastener in an existing assembly. The M16 x 2 coarse thread pitch is compatible with standard metric tapped holes and hex nuts conforming to ISO metric fastener standards.
Designed as a standard ISO metric socket cap screw fitting any M16 x 2 tapped hole or hex nut per ISO metric fastener specifications. Verify thread engagement depth and hole clearance before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified millwright, machinist, or maintenance technician familiar with metric fastener torque requirements for grade 12.9 hardware. Always verify thread condition in the receiving hole before installation and use a calibrated torque wrench to apply the fastener to the assembly manufacturer's specified torque value. Do not use an impact driver to final-torque grade 12.9 cap screws, as this can induce inconsistent clamp load. Inspect the hex socket for wear before driving to avoid rounding the drive recess.
