The MERSEN TRS50R is a Tri-Onic dual-element, time-delay, current-limiting fuse rated at 50 amps and 600 volts AC (300 volts DC). It belongs to the Class RK5 category and is part of the TRS-R series. The fuse uses a dual-element design to provide two distinct protective functions: it tolerates harmless motor starting currents and transformer inrush currents without nuisance opening, while still providing fast response to sustained overloads and short-circuit faults. Constructed with copper internals, this fuse is suited for branch-circuit and feeder overcurrent protection in commercial and industrial electrical systems. Licensed electricians are the typical installing trade.
The TRS50R is engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders, and branch circuits. The time-delay characteristic allows it to ride through the high inrush currents that occur when motors start or transformers energize, preventing unnecessary outages while maintaining full fault protection. It is well suited for both new installations and direct replacement of existing Class RK5 fuses in motor control centers, panelboards, and distribution equipment operating at up to 600 volts AC or 300 volts DC.
Designed as a Class RK5 time-delay replacement fuse for use in fusible disconnects, panelboards, motor control centers, and distribution equipment rated for Class RK5 fuses at 50 amps and 600 volts AC or 300 volts DC.
Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing fuses. Verify that the fuse holder or fusible disconnect is rated for Class RK5 fuses and is sized for the 50-amp, 600-volt rating of the TRS50R. Do not substitute this fuse into a holder rated for a lower ampere or voltage class.
