The MERSEN A2K600R is a 600-amp, 250-volt Class RK1 time-delay fuse designed for branch-circuit and feeder protection in industrial and commercial electrical systems. Class RK1 fuses provide a high degree of current limitation, making them well suited for protecting motors, transformers, panelboards, and service-entrance equipment where both overload and short-circuit protection are required. The time-delay characteristic allows the fuse to ride through normal motor-inrush currents without nuisance opening, while still providing fast response to dangerous fault conditions. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this class of overcurrent protective device.
Class RK1 fuses are used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications wherever the National Electrical Code requires a current-limiting overcurrent protective device. The A2K600R is appropriate for motor branch circuits, feeder circuits, and service entrances rated up to 250 volts AC. The RK1 rejection feature prevents installation in a lower-rated fuse holder, enforcing the correct interrupting rating at the panel or disconnect.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for Class RK1 fuse holders and disconnects rated 600 amps at 250 volts AC.
Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lockout/tagout the circuit and verify absence of voltage before handling any fuse or fuse holder. Use properly rated fuse pullers when removing or inserting high-amperage fuses. Verify that the fuse holder is listed for Class RK1 devices and is rated for the circuit voltage and amperage before installation.
