The MERIT BRASS XNL114-3216 is a hex head pipe bushing designed to reduce a 2-inch male NPT connection down to a 1-inch female NPT port. Cast from brass with a rough finish, this bushing handles working pressures up to 125 lb class ratings in standard plumbing and piping systems. The hex head profile allows wrench engagement for secure, leak-free installation. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a threaded reduction between two pipe sizes is required in low- to medium-pressure service lines.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, gas distribution, compressed air, and fluid transfer applications where brass fittings are specified. The MNPT x FNPT end configuration allows it to thread directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve body on one end while accepting a smaller male-threaded pipe or fitting on the other. It is commonly used in supply line assemblies, manifold builds, and equipment connections that require a concentric pipe size reduction.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use in standard NPT piping systems requiring a 2-inch male to 1-inch female pipe size reduction.
A licensed plumber or pipefitter should install this fitting in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the supply line and depressurize the system completely before threading the bushing into place. Apply PTFE tape or an approved pipe thread sealant to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
