The MERIT BRASS XNL114-0804 is a hex head pipe bushing used to reduce a 1/2-inch male NPT fitting down to a 1/4-inch female NPT port. It is manufactured from brass with a rough finish and rated to 125 lb pressure class. This bushing is a standard threaded reducer fitting found in plumbing, HVAC, gas, and compressed-air piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting when transitioning between pipe sizes at equipment connections, manifolds, valves, or instrumentation ports.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a compact, hex-body reducer is needed at a threaded connection point. Typical uses include connecting smaller-diameter gauges, sensors, valves, or supply lines to larger-diameter threaded ports on boilers, water heaters, compressors, and distribution manifolds. The hex body allows standard wrench engagement for controlled makeup without pipe-strap tooling.
Designed as a standard NPT threaded reducer bushing for use in 1/2-inch female NPT ports requiring a 1/4-inch female NPT connection, compatible with any piping system that accepts 125 lb brass threaded fittings per ASME B16.15 or equivalent standards.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using a wrench on the hex flats. Shut off and depressurize the system before making or breaking any threaded connection. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope rated for the service medium to the male NPT threads before makeup. Do not overtighten brass fittings; over-torquing can crack the hex body or distort the threads.
