The MERIT BRASS XNL112-2016 is a brass pipe reducer coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal diameters in threaded piping systems. Sized at 1-1/4 x 1 inch nominal, it features female national pipe taper (FNPT) threads on both ends, allowing a threaded transition from the larger to the smaller pipe size. Rated at 125 lb pressure class, this coupling is suited for low- to medium-pressure service in water, gas, and general plumbing distribution lines. The rough brass finish indicates an unpolished surface typical of working fittings installed in concealed or utility applications.
This reducer coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, compressed air distribution, and general industrial piping where a threaded step-down connection is needed. It is commonly installed when transitioning from a 1-1/4 inch main or branch line down to a 1 inch service line. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit work where NPT-threaded pipe assemblies are standard.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT-threaded brass piping systems requiring a 1-1/4 to 1 inch nominal threaded reducer coupling.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing any existing fittings or installing this coupling. Apply appropriate thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded brass fittings, as brass is softer than iron and can crack if excess force is applied.
