The MERIT BRASS XNL112-2012 is a brass pipe reducer coupling designed to connect two pipes of different diameters in a threaded piping system. It transitions from a 1-1/4 inch nominal female thread to a 3/4 inch nominal female thread, using FNPT (Female National Pipe Taper) end connections on both sides. Rated at 125 lb, this coupling suits low-to-medium pressure water, gas, and general plumbing service lines. The rough brass finish is standard for embedded or concealed installations. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This reducer coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, compressed air, and general fluid distribution systems where a threaded inline diameter reduction is required. It is suited for installations involving 1-1/4 inch supply or distribution lines that step down to 3/4 inch branch or service lines. The FNPT connection on both ends allows direct threaded makeup with standard NPT male fittings and pipe ends without additional adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded brass reducer coupling for use with standard 1-1/4 inch and 3/4 inch NPT male-threaded pipe and fittings in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before removing any existing fitting or making up new connections. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before makeup — do not apply sealant to female threads. Hand-tighten first, then wrench-tighten to a snug fit; avoid overtightening brass fittings, which can crack the female threads.
