The MERIT BRASS MB12230 is a 1/2-inch push-to-connect copper coupling with stop, designed for use in pressurized water supply and distribution systems. It uses a press-fit end connection that joins copper pipe without soldering, torches, or crimping tools, making it a fast and reliable option for repair and new installation work. The fitting is rated to 300 psi maximum working pressure and handles temperatures from 0 degrees F up to 250 degrees F. It is lead-free and complies with IAPMO PS117 and NSF-61/372 standards. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting in both residential and light commercial applications.
This coupling with stop is suited for potable water supply lines, in-wall and under-slab plumbing runs, and repair scenarios where open flame is restricted or impractical. The integral stop positions the pipe at a consistent depth for a proper seal without guesswork. Its 0.965-inch outside diameter is sized for standard 1/2-inch copper tube. This fitting is appropriate for residential water distribution, hydronic heating lines, and commercial plumbing where lead-free, NSF-listed fittings are required by code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard 1/2-inch copper tube in residential and commercial potable water and hydronic plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the water supply line completely before cutting or disconnecting any pipe. Deburr and clean the pipe end before insertion to ensure a proper seal. Verify the pipe is fully seated against the integral stop before restoring pressure.
