The MERIT BRASS C103-04 is a 90-degree street elbow designed for threaded brass pipe assemblies. It features a female NPT (FNPT) inlet on one end and a male NPT (MNPT) outlet on the other, allowing a direction change without a separate coupling or nipple. Rated Class 125, this fitting is suitable for moderate-pressure service in water, oil, and gas piping systems. The all-brass construction resists corrosion and holds up in both wet and dry environments. At 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight component sized at 1/4 inch for tight-space installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters use this fitting in residential and light commercial work.
The C103-04 is used wherever a 90-degree directional change is needed in a 1/4-inch threaded pipe run. Common applications include compressed air lines, fuel gas distribution, hydraulic supply lines, water service, and HVAC refrigerant-adjacent piping assemblies. The street configuration — FNPT inlet accepting a male-threaded pipe or fitting directly — makes it well suited for back-to-back fitting connections or close-quarter layouts where standard elbows and nipples would not fit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/4-inch NPT threaded pipe systems rated Class 125 or lower across residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where relevant. Shut off and depressurize the affected line completely before disassembling any threaded connection. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten with pipe wrenches — do not over-tighten brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque. Pressure-test the completed assembly before returning the line to service.
