The MERIT BRASS BS115-0806 is a threaded brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1/2-inch male NPT connection down to a 3/8-inch female NPT port. It is used in low-pressure fluid and gas piping systems where a concentric reduction between threaded fittings is required. Rated at Class 125, this bushing is suited for general-purpose plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping applications. The all-brass construction provides corrosion resistance in water and air service lines. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians use this fitting when connecting dissimilar pipe sizes in tight spaces where a hex bushing is the preferred reduction method.
This bushing fits residential and light commercial piping systems where 1/2-inch to 3/8-inch NPT reductions are needed. Common install scenarios include water supply branch lines, compressed air distribution, and HVAC refrigerant-adjacent piping assemblies that use threaded brass fittings. The MNPT x FNPT end configuration allows it to thread directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve body on one end while accepting a male-threaded pipe or fitting on the other.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for residential and light commercial threaded piping systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified HVAC technicians. Shut off the water or air supply and depressurize the line before threading in the bushing. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads before assembly, following local plumbing code requirements such as the IPC. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material is softer than steel and threads can strip under excessive force.
